You will now be carrying 4 items (though only 2 are active) & 'Missing No.' You continue on. You can see this when you pause the game to check the item screen. However, the game still thinks you are currently carrying those original items, but does not apply their bonuses. You also get 'random item' rerolled from 'Little Steven' that doesn't apply to a transform bonus. 'Mom's Contacts' was rerolled on the floor becoming 'Bob's Brain'. You proceed to level 2 of the basement with a grand total of 2 items & 'Missing No.' You finish out the run and beat the first boss, who drops "Little Steven", a piece of the 'Conjoined' transformation. Not the greatest item, but it is a part of the 'Yes Mother?' transformation, which is pretty good. Score! You then go to the treasure room to find 'Mom's Contacts'. Let's say that the first basement level secret room contains Missing No. How does this apply to the Binding of Isaac? Nintendo recognizes that the 'Missing No.' Pokémon can destroy your game. In 'Pokémon Yellow', NPC's in the area could be duplicated. If you try to fight with 'Missing No.' the Trainer and Pokémon sprite get scrambled and other sprites get flipped. Ironically, 'Missing No.' from Pokémon also deals with item duplication. I am not sure what causes the game breaking, but I think it has to do with item duplication and the game trying to trigger too many transformations at one time. But there is a chance to break your game. The more items you have when it activates, the higher the chance for a transformation. In the Xbox One version of 'Binding of Isaac', an early run catch of 'Missing No.' is an excellent way to gain multiple transformations quickly. In 'Binding of Isaac', 'Missing No.' is a reference to the Pokémon glitch above.īut there are more parallels than just this. You could get infinite Rare Candy, as well as Vitamins and expensive potions and the Master Ball. Generally, this was done to manipulate the game's duplicate item glitch, where you could end up with 128 copies of whatever item happened to be in your 6th slot in the bag. 'MissingNo.' is a dual type normal/flying bird Pokémon that you have to undergo a specific set of steps in order to catch.
